Palia - High Fantasy MMO Adventure
Updated: Nov 3
This game is such a wholesome cozy vibe! I had been impatiently waiting for this one to come out and so far it does not disappoint! I haven’t had as much time as I’d like to play, but so far Palia’s bright and unique visual style has blown me away. It was what drew me to it in the first place, but seeing how its all come together gives me the warm fuzzies!
Getting to know the NPC’s of Kilima Village definitely pays off. By chatting to each character or gifting items you’ll build your friendship and unlocks important dialogue options. This dialogue helps you learn more about each characters unique personality and backstory and can also help to teach you valuable skills to help progress the story. You can level up and learn skills such as fishing, farming, mining, foraging and hunting and each will reap you long term rewards in new recipes, tools and equipment for progressing the story and building your cozy homestead.
So far I haven’t felt overwhelmed by the story itself. Some games give you so much information and exposition when starting as a way of world building, but with Palia it allows you to go at your own leisurely pace and uncover the lore as you go.
I do want to take a moment to appreciate the music here as I think that music composition is a HUGE part of the gaming experience. The music for Palia, composed by Stefan Schmidt (@composerschmidt) is played by an ENTIRE ORCHESTRA, which beautifully complements the high fantasy world and enhances the heartwarming energy the dev team infused it with! (The games music isn’t released as such yet so I’d tagged another of Schmidt’s tracks for the vibes!)
Obviously as this is a Beta game we know it isn’t fully formed yet. There’s a few minor bugs, and probably some more major ones experienced by other players, there’s no sound effects yet when mining or chopping woods for example. But overall, the potential is there, and what a bright shining potential that is!
